SHOT BY A POLICEMAN.; Charles Whitmore Refused to Stop When Ordered and Got a Bullet in His Lung.

Charles Whitmore, nineteen years old, of 354 Tenth Avenue, is lying in a critical condition in the New York Hospital with a bullet hole through his left lung. His wound was received early yesterday morning, while trying to escape from Policeman Suy R. Cobaugh of the West Twentieth Street Police Station.
